The purpose of this site is to introduce you to the “convolution” writing style, encourage you to read such writings, and perhaps do some “convolution” writing yourself.

You have seen some shadows and echoes of the “convolution” writing style in recent years in Hollywood movies, where bits and pieces of plot come together to tell a story in a non-linear fashion. Previously, most movies, television, magazines, and other writing followed a more linear, sequential progression. This was the most logical way for thought to be organized and processed. Written a little like a history book. The “convolution” style on the other hand comes together non-linearly in bits and pieces. Like real life.

The domain in which this style of writing perhaps works best is the internet. Whereas, we once received our news and read/told stories in a more linear fashion, people have become increasing comfortable in handling many disjoint streams and fragments of stories and processing these separate threads into a single overall story. This story is their life

This site provides further background on the “convolution” writing style and serves as a jumping off point for a “convolution” writing experience that I hope you enjoy.

To understand why this style lends itself so well to the web will be clarified in a future short discussion. In the meantime see:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convolution

The site consists of a number of blogs that are written with a specific style or theme. These blogs are stand alone, but are also “convolution” meaning they are interwoven to tell a single overall story. Like real life.

In this non-linear style you will often encounter “obscure” references. They may be just that “obscure” references or more likely references to one of the other blogs written in the past or future. Just as you can look at the story of one person’s life individually or expand that story to include the life stories of the people close to that person and how those stories interact to create a single overall story, this is part of the appeal of the style. It’s a bit like solving a puzzle.

You will also see how the context of the same basic story can be changed as it is written in different styles. An example follows in 1st post.

That is enough for now.

Why “Warsaw?”

That too will be answered in time.
